House with the Antler / Casa cu cerb

The house with the antler in Sighisoara in the Transylvania region of Romania is one of the oldest and historically most interesting buildings in the former German city. It was first mentioned in the 13th century. A wooden stag's head with real antlers is embedded in its north-east corner on the 1st floor, to which picturesque depictions of a stag belong on both facades.

The Messerschmitt Foundation acquired the building in the early 2000s. Inside there are frescoes and a wooden ceiling from the 16th century. The house was extensively restored from 2001 to 2004 and is now a romantic hotel.
